Dr Baumgartner studied physics, mathematics and astronomy at the University of Basel (Switzerland). He has a PhD in Environmental Sciences from ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Stephan’s expertise is in basic research into homeopathy, with focus on the potentisation procedure (bioassays and physicochemical investigations). He is a founding member of The International Society of Complementary Medicine Research, and member of the GIRI (International Research Group on Very Low Dose and High Dilution Effects). Dr Baumgartner is currently also a lecturer at the Institute of Complementary and Integrative Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland.

Dr Bell has been a researcher in holistic and alternative medicine for over 30 years. She has served on the faculties at Harvard, UCSF and the University of Arizona. She is Board certified in Psychiatry, a fellow of the American College of Nutrition, nationally certified in biofeedback and licensed in homeopathy and integrated medicine in Arizona. Dr Bell has published papers and book chapters on her clinical research, a monograph on environmental illness and books for patients with anxiety disorders and chronic illness.

Dr. Paolo Bellavite, is a medical doctor, teacher and researcher specialized in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology. The main areas of research of Bellavite’s group focused on molecular and cellular aspects of inflammation, with particular regard to the structure, biochemistry and function (normal and pathological) of granulocytes (neutrophils and basophils), macrophages and platelets. He developed many micromethods in clinical laboratory to investigate pathophysiology and pharmacology of blood cells and free radicals. He carried out scientific research in the context of complementary therapeutic approaches and in particular of high dilutions of agonists and medicines on cellular and murine models.

Prof Endler’s research interests have included development of the amphibian model for in vitro investigation of the action of ultra high dilutions. He is a member of the Board of the International Group for Research on Infinitesimal Doses (GIRI).

Prof Jacobs received her MD degree from Wayne State University and a Masters in Public Health at the University of Washington. She is a former President of the American Institute of Homeopathy, co-founded the special interest group of the American Public Health Association on Complementary and Alternative Health Practices, and served on the advisory board of the NIH Office of Alternative Medicine. In addition, she has published numerous homeopathic research studies in peer-reviewed medical journals. Now retired from medical practice, Dr. Jacobs continues to consult on homeopathic clinical research.

Dr Mathie studied Physiology at Glasgow University (UK). After receiving his PhD he moved on to the Department of Surgery at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London, where he became Senior Lecturer. Over a period of 25 years in the university sector, Dr Mathie published some 80 peer-reviewed papers and wrote many review articles and book chapters. Before joining HRI as Research Advisor, Dr Mathie held the post of Research Development Adviser at the British Homeopathic Association and Faculty of Homeopathy. Much of his work over 9 years was devoted to encouraging and assisting members of the Faculty to improve the quantity and the quality of research output in homeopathy. To this end, he developed collaborations with university researchers and led clinical data collection work with the Faculty’s doctors, dentists and vets. Within a broader aim to highlight and improve the nature and the quality of homeopathy research, Dr Mathie is currently engaged in a number of systematic reviews of published clinical trials.

Prof. Ross is head of the Department of Homeopathy at Durban University of Technology (DUT), South Africa who has practiced and taught homeopathy for over 25 years. In addition to private practice and the teaching of homeopathic philosophy and materia medica, he has been actively engaged in research supervision across a range of health disciplines as well as pursuing his own research interests.

Dr Thompson is a Consultant Homeopathic Physician specialising in oncology and a Fellow of the Faculty of Homeopathy. She previously held the post of Lead Clinician, Academic Director and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Palliative Medicine, at Bristol Homeopathic Hospital for many years. Dr Thompson now leads the team at the National Centre for Integrative Medicine in Bristol. Dr Thompson’s research interests have been around whether homeopathy can offer a novel approach to symptom control in the cancer patient and in particular managing side effects of cancer treatments. She also has an interest in trial design.

Dr Tournier has a 1st class degree in Physics from Imperial College and a Master in Advanced Study in Theroretical Physics from Cambridge University. He wrote his PhD on the biophysics of water at the interface with biological molecules at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. Dr Tournier worked for 10 years at Cancer Research UK (5th institute worldwide for molecular biology) as a researcher working on problems at the interface between biology, physics and mathematics.
